The Annual Historic Boat Gathering will take place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend. The Marina will host some 50 historic boats which will compete to win the coveted Les Lapworth Award for the best turned out boat. Every day at 2 pm, there will be a parade of boats, together with entertaining commentary and the steerers will compete for the Boat Handler's Award, which is judged by the audience on the quality of the turn outside the front of the pub. We'll also be treated to a parade of Illuminated Boats on Saturday Night. It's always a great weekend!
Bands on the Balcony are back for 2017. On Saturday we will be entertained by the Chase Jazz Quartet and on Sunday the fabulous Ian Casey returns to The Barlow.
As ever there will be live music upstairs each night. Friday night is sixties night with local group, The Backbone Slips. On Saturday night another local favourite, Little Boy Blue will be with us. Sunday Night will be a Highland Fling as The Burdock Band host a Ceilidh so get your best tartan out and be ready to dance! There may even be a prize for the best dressed "Flinger".
There'll be a Real Ale and Cider Festival and Madame Barlow's Gin Palace will make a much anticipated return. We'll also be hosting a craft and gift market, both on and off the canal.
As well as our usual freshly prepared homecooked food, there'll also be a Garden BBQ if you're feeling peckish.
All events have free admission.
